Richard Keith Croy
Richard Keith Croy, 79, of Marysville died Sunday afternoon, December 14th, at Riverside Hospital in Columbus following an extended illness. He was retired from the US postal service following 27 years of service as a mail carrier.
A man of faith, he was a long time member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. He served for two years in the US Navy as a supply clerk on the USS Tawara Aircraft Carrier and was a member of the American Legion and Life Member of the VFW in Arlington, Ohio. He loved horse racing, especially the Brown Jug, and flea markets. He and his wife Patricia operated the Croy’s Bait and Tackle Shop for 48 years.
Richard was born August 7, 1929 in Columbus and was preceded in death by his mother, Juanita Croy Spain, and mother-in-law, Margaret McEvoy. He married the former Patricia Ann McEvoy July 18, 1956 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church by Father Leonard Falvey.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Patricia Ann; their children, Karen Kay Croy of Highland Beach, FL, Kevin Keith (Jeanice) Croy of Ft. Wayne, IN, Kathleen Sue Croy of Boston, MA, Kelly Shawn (Lorrain) Croy of Oak Harbor; 6 grandchildren, Zachary, Maggie, Allyson, Carolyne, Jaclyn, & Jillyan Croy; Sisters- and brother-in-law, Catherine and LeRoy Ellis of Marysville, Mary Armstrong of Urbana, Genese McEvoy of Marysville; Stephen Scheiderer of Columbus; and many other relatives.
Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4-8pm at the Ingram Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11am Wednesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Father David Poliafico officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
